So, like

If the relationship between a male/female on a television program has the same dynamic and amount of respect and adoration and companionship between the characters as the male/male relationship that the original text had provided, why is it a bad thing that one of the characters is suddenly female?

And, like, aren’t nods to the audience about how the hetero dudes are not so hetero but then the narrative never actually goes a romantic route (aka the writers are exploiting and fucking with the audience by insinuating that the two hetero dudes are ~in love~ but have no plans on ever following through on them ACTUALLY BEING IN LOVE) annoying? And frustrating? And incredibly transparent?

So, again, if in the remake, the newly female interpretation of the previously male reference point has the same relationship, dynamic, amount of respect and adoration with the still male interpretation, why is that so terribly hard to wrap your mind around?

(Sure, if the writers are willing to go a romantic route only if the relationship is male/female when they have the same everything else as the male/male reference point, that’s some shit. But, I guess to me, the writers taking advantage of the audience and making allusions to the two males possibly being romantic ONLY to take advantage of the audience and never follow through is also some shit.)
