There’s too much fetishizing and exploitation of queers on this website. As long as they are attractive and at least one of the people in the ~relationship is white. Assuming that all platonic relationships between two individuals of the same sex are actually romantic is annoying anyways.
In fandoms, everyone (not actually everyone, but ymmv) wants to assume that straight characters are gay. And, hey, that’s not even a problem. Because, you don’t know narrative wise, unless explicitly stated, that a character is or isn’t queer. But, when it is explicitly stated that a character is not queer, it is disregarded. And then they assume that the actors portraying the characters are not only queer, but are having secret relationships with their costars. They believe it so much that it actually pains people if these actors have relationships with members of the opposite sex. And they think they deserve or have earned for that actor to come out to them, for them and the other people like them.
I’m not trying to belittle the joy and sense of belonging a queer someone can feel when they learn that a celebrity or character they like is queer. I wouldn’t dream of it. But, with all the “look at what these two extreme heterosexuals are doing!!1211111!!!!” and shit that gets thrown on all men who happen to be friendly irl or on a show/movie… It’s so tiring.
